The effervescent Aurelia has created a variety show, and I had the pleasure of talking with her during the hour-long show seen on Time Warner, RCN, Verizon FiOS and Cablevision. Her husband and co-producer Al Chico started the energy going with their introduction to the show. I was impressed with how she had a live audience of followers of her show who cheered on the performers as they showed off their singing and harmonica talents. The show opened with Aurelia’s relative playing a neat harmonica as I was introduced and had the chance to share my journey on the adventure called life! The time passed in a flash! Then there was the spectacularly successful Kings of Queens event at the one and only Terrace on the Park, the best venue in the borough for a large party. Our 700 guests filled it full of great networking, friendship and enormously successful honorees. I always present the event as Hollywood East as we gather remarkable people to recognize. I dress to the hilt courtesy of Shahin, a former Top Woman in Business who designed my outfit in a week, and Alicia’s Jewelers in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center, who lent me gorgeous diamonds to accessorize my dress! I glittered! But the real stars were our powerful men who lit up the night with their talent, spelled out in our journal distributed that evening as well as in our newspapers and online these past two weeks. Our events have grown over the years with a great group of talented staff in Brooklyn and Queens. My deep gratitude to Demetra, Amy, Bob, Christine, Lori, Jackie and Bianca, our events team. My friend Rhona Silver brought in her friend Stephanie to create a “fan crowd” as honorees arrived and Annette Vallone of Landrum Dance Studio provided dancers. It was real drama and so much fun. Then there was the tireless office staff members, Graziella, Daphne, Ayanna, Ilene, Sheila, Alan, Warren, Robinson and Edwardo. Their tireless efforts make the events we run seamless and I am so proud and grateful to them. The events are such a powerful opportunity for businesspeople to network with each other and I was told after the event by one of them, “This event helped my staff meet six quality leads for their business. That’s remarkable, and I’m so Chico and Aurelia Lara Spenser, the hostess of Flea Market Flip grateful!” It made my night! To my delight, our guests generously supported a raffle to benefit two important causes in our community that serve people with disabilities, Independent Residences and NYFAC for families with autism. Thanks to Delta Airlines and The Creative Group, we offered our guests a chance to a vacation in Cancun and two tickets on Delta. We also were grateful to America Golf for donating two foursomes, and a Dale Carnegie Scholarship worth $2,000. What a night to remember! We raised $3,500 for these great causes. This weekend, once again the LIC Flea hosted the beautiful and bright star of “Good Morning America,” Lara Spencer. She has her own show on HGTV, “Flea Market Flip,” featuring a challenge to two teams to buy items at one market, redo them and resell them at another market — the LIC Flea. That’s where my fun began. I bid on a unique folding table and stools and a bookcase and won them both! I got great prices for both, and they deliver it, too! Then I sampled the new wines being sold at the Beer Garden, Casa Larga Cab- Merlot and their Chardonnay, both a perfect match to our lunch from one of the international food vendors. It was an overcast afternoon with the rain clouds threatening, but it didn’t stop my joy of the view of the spectacular skyscrapers across the East River as I ate my lunch. A lovely way to end my week. The flea market with international food vendors and Beer Garden is open every Saturday and Sunday. victoria’s secrets tweet me @vschneps A week of remarkable people Me, wearing the jewels from Alicia’s Jewelers, with my son Josh Visitors to the LIC Flea can now enjoy wine at the Beer Garden Dynamic $1000 off Lumineers $500 off Invisalign DENTAL WORK Free Whitening included the inViSiBle WAy to Some excluSionS Apply StrAighten teeth third generation dentist 175-15 Jamaica avenue, Jamaica 718-297-4100 • 718-297-4106 I bought a book case from contestants on the HGTV show taping at the LIC Flea.
