The LIC Flea is partnering with Queens food blog “Chopsticks & Marrow” to present the food festival on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17-18, at the LIC Flea market from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. LIC Flea vendor profile: Righteous Rendang Righteous Rendang offers the traditional Indonesian dish known as the Rendang platter (Nasi kapau rendang). Originating in west Sumatra, the platter consists of rice, vegetable curry with beef rendang, which is slowly simmered in a blend of coconut milk, ginger, garlic, galangga, tumeric, coriander, lemongrass and chilil. Rendang is often served at large ceremonies to the honored guest and is a staple of Righteous Rendang. The vendor also offers Satay Padang, another west Sumatra dish made from beef that’s diced and simmered in beef broth, tumeric, ginger, coriander, galangga, curry powder and chili. It’s served with rice cakes also made into cubes. Dig in for the Mid-Autumn Asian Feastival this weekend at LIC Flea Visitors will be able to enjoy an array of food, sweets and drinks from across the Asian continent. LIC Flea is welcoming back for the occasion Tea & Milk and its incredible bubble teas. Other Asian vendors include Resobox, offering Japanese taiyaki, a fishshaped cake; Thai cuisine from Tae Street NYC; Korean delights from Enjan; Indonesian cuisine from Righteous Rendang; Silk Cakes and Confectionary’s assorted Asian sweets; Ministry of Kaapi with South Indian coffee; Yumplings Taiwanese chicken and dumplings; Yanagiya with sushi and riceballs; and Boil Boil Ramen with ramen noddle dishes. Once you’ve satisfied your appetite, you can browse the many vintage, hand-crafted and curated items that the LIC Flea’s local vendors have to offer.
