Bayside will never forget.
Beneath the setting sun, dozens gathered
in Bayside Hills at Bell Boulevard
and the Horace Harding Expressway to
commemorate the 16th anniversary of
the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with
song, refl ection and prayer.
Representatives of local Police and
Fire Departments, scout troops, civic
associations, religious leaders, elected
offi cials and residents were among the
participants.
“It’s events like this that truly signify
what Queens stands for,” Queens
Borough President Melinda Katz said.
“It’s about families. It’s about remembering
our fallen … It’s about honoring
our fi rst responders, our Police
Department, our Fire Department, our
EMS — everyone who runs into the
building, into danger, when everyone
else is running out.”
Th e annual event was organized by
the Bayside Hills Civic Association
(BHCA).
