On Sept. 2, police officers from the 110th Precinct were on patrol near 59th Avenue at about midnight when they saw an argument going on between a group of people in the parking lot of Joe’s Crab Shack, located at 92-50 59th Ave. The cops then intervened and while dispersing the group found 50-year-old Dwight Harley from Flushing, who was employed as a security guard for the restaurant, authorities said. The officers noticed what looked like an NYPD badge on Harley’s belt and when they asked about it, the suspect said he was an off-duty police officer, but did not have the proper identification, according to authorities. Upon arresting Harley, the officers found a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun in a holster of his belt and also noticed he was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and had pepper spray, two sets of handcuffs, an expandable baton and two Motorola radios. Harley was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal impersonation of a police officer. 108th Precinct Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside Cops release security camera image of suspect in LIC caustic chemical asault Hoping to crack the case, the NYPD released on Sept. 3 a surveillance camera image of a man wanted in connection with last month’s assault on a Long Island City street that left a woman with chemical burns. The picture shows the suspect from behind in the area of Skillman Avenue and 33rd Street on Aug. 19, when the assault took place. According to authorities, the perpetrator — described as a black male believed to be 30 years old, standing 5 foot 8 inches tall with black hair and wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts and white sneakers — approached the 59-year-old woman as she entered her car at about 5:20 p.m. The suspect asked her a question and when the woman turned around, he threw an unidentified, “acidlike” chemical in her face that had been contained within a coffee cup, police said. He then fled the scene. The woman managed to enter her car and drive a few feet away before being overcome by the chemical. Paramedics rushed her to Cornell Medical Center for treatment of facial burns. Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800- 577-TIPS. 109th Precinct Flushing, College Point, Whitestone, Malba, Bay Terrace Whitestone woman mising since Sept. 5: police Police are asking the public for any information related to the disappearance of a Whitestone resident missing since Sept. 5. Authorities say that Maria Brabazon, 55, was last seen on Sept. 5 at around 10 p.m. in her home on 151-11 14th Ave. She was wearing black leggings and a white shirt. Brabazon is blonde with blue eyes, stands at 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 125 pounds. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 111th Precinct Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, Auburndale, Fresh Meadows Man found dead of apparent suicide on Cros Island Parkway in Bayside Morning commuters on the Cross Island Parkway were shocked to see the body of a 57-year-old man hanging from an exit sign pole in Bayside on Sept. 2. The body was found at 6:47 a.m. on the eastbound Exit 31 of the Cross Island Parkway, according to NYPD. The man, who has not been identified, was reportedly alive but unconscious and unresponsive when cops arrived on the scene. He was pronounced dead upon the arrival of emergency medical technicians. The medical examiner has not yet determined the cause of death, but the case is being investigated as a suicide. 114th Precinct Astoria, Long Island City, Woodside, Jackson Heights Suspects sought for WoodsidE hit-and-run robery Police released images on Sept. 4 of two men wanted for striking a man with a car, then taking his property near a Woodside nightclub last month. The hit-and-run robbery occurred at 2 a.m. on Aug. 15 outside the Medusa Lounge located at 25-18 50th St. According to authorities, the perpetrators – described as black males – chased the 29-year-old man out of the lounge, entered a nearby black vehicle and then struck the victim. Once the victim was on the ground, police said, the suspects exited the vehicle and removed the man’s necklace, money and cellphone, then got back in the car and sped away. Officers from the 114th Precinct responded to the incident; the victim was taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
