Attendees will come in touch with the multiple facets of ancient Chinese culture as musicians and performers will play guquin, fl ute, ciao and pipa, sing Kunqu opera and perform a tea ceremony. Several prominent artists are expected to take the stage at the celebration, which begins at 1:30 p.m. Visit the Art Center Workshops for their annual Open House and experience a variety of fun, handson activities, while indulging in popcorn and cotton candy. The event will take place at 161-04 Jamaica Ave. from noon to 4 p.m. The center offers more than 40 workshops on activities such as dance, cartooning and ceramics for participants of all ages. Registration is open for the fall semester beginning September 13. SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7 It’s Family Day at the Queens Zoo. The zoo is organizing a tour for participants to get close to rainforest animals. The three-hour-long tour will start at 1 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at queenszoo.com at the cost of $25 for members and $35 for non-members. The price covers one adult and one child. The Queens Sickle Cell Advocacy Network Inc.’s Annual Sickle Cell 5K Run/Walk-A-Thon, which raises funds to spread awareness about Sickle Cell Disease, will begin at 10 a.m. at 160th Street between Liberty and Archer avenues and end at Roy Wilkins Park. It boasts of seven World’s Fair structures reconstructed out of Legos by expert builder Cody Wells. The exhibition is free and will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 The Kew Gardens Community Center is screening “Analyze That” at its location at 80-02 Kew Gardens Rd., Suite 202. The movie stars Robert DeNiro as a gangster who consults with the psychiatrist, played by Billy Crystal. The event starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7.
