The cast and crew of NBC’s crime drama TV show “Shades of Blue” were reportedly filming on Aug. 12 right underneath Astoria’s elevated subway tracks, at the intersection of 31st Road and 31st Avenue. In “Shades of Blue,” Jennifer Lopez plays Harlee Santos, who is a single mother to a teenage daughter and a NYPD detective, forced to work with the FBI’s anti-corruption task force, while dealing with her own financial and family problems. The first season of Shades of Blue ran from January through March this year, and the network ordered 13 additional episodes for the second season.
