Led by Calvin Francis and featuring Walter Jackson on vocals, the Orchestra celebrated Satchmo’s upcoming birthday (August 4th) with a rousing concert of swinging jazz. The concert-goers were treated to songs associated with Louis Armstrong and his contemporaries, from Hello Dolly to Honeysuckle Rose to How High the Moon and many more. This program was funded by the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Inc. Special kudos also to East Elmhurst Library’s Ms. Johnnie O. Dent, Community Branch Manager; Ms. Joy H.
