Using Mathletics, an interactive cloud-based instructional program, students in Ms. Russo’s third grade class solved over 381,000 problems during the 4 week contest period. The top 5 winners included 3 classes from St. Rose of Lima School in Rockaway and 1 class from St. Andrew Avellino School in Flushing. Each class was awarded an end of year pizza party after collectively solving over a million problems. The contest was run by The Catholic Telemedia Network (CTN) which offers Mathletics to all diocesan schools as part of its digital learning services. Students can continue to have fun – and learn - with Mathletics over the summer. The 21st century classroom teacher is required by state and federal standards to integrate technology into their lesson plans.
