All work is for sale. International artist Lin Shih Pao will exhibit his latest creation, The Pink “Like” Car, a sculpture made from 10,000 recycled workers’ gloves and scrap lumber. The work is an homage to the driving force of “hand labor.” There will be a ribbon cutting and viewing at the Queens Crossing Building, 136-17 39th Ave. in Flushing at 6:30 p.m. At 3 p.m., the Caribbean American Repertory Theatre honors South Africa with an award-winning play depicting the inhumanity of the apartheid system, “Sizwe Bansi is Dead.” The play costs $20 and takes place at the L. The Queens Theater’s rendition of “Peter Pan” explores the journey of children in turnof the-century London who use their imaginations to reenact the story of Peter Pan. Celebrate Polish culture, art and food at Poland’s International Children’s Day. The Museum of the Moving Image is honoring Kenji Mizoguchi (1898–1956), who produced 85 fi lms that spanned the silent and sound eras in Japan, by showing three of her movies.“The Crucifi ed Lovers” (2 p.m.) is about an apprentice scrollmaker who attempts to help his master’s wife out of a delicate fi nancial situation, and as a result the two end up on the lam together. “Victory of Women” (4:30 p.m.) depicts a female lawyer who takes up the case of a recently widowed woman who killed her baby rather than raise it amid poverty and plundering. “My Love Burns” (7 p.m.) illustrates the feminist adage that “the personal is political.” Trailing a friend who has been sold into slavery, Eiko relocates to Tokyo, where she works with the progressive party and falls in love with its leader. She suffers untold brutality for the cause, but when the progressives come into power, the issue of women’s rights has been forgotten. The Museum is located at 36-01 35th Ave., Astoria. MONDAY, JUNE 2 St. Luke’s Nursery School and pre-K program at 87-34 85th St. will host an open house from Tuesday, May 28, to Friday, June 6, between the hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Visit the school to pre-register for September 2014 classes.
