Salon raises funds for local school Successful women and members of The Queens Courier’s “Star Network” had a beautiful time at Vivaldi’s Thursday, April 23 with a charity makeover sponsored by Christie & Co. Salon. Stylists from the salon and makeup artists were available at the event to share beauty secrets and demonstrate makeup looks and hairstyles for the more than 70 women who wanted to look better and try out new styles. The event raised $1,250 for St. Luke’s Catholic School in Whitestone through raffl e sales for the George Breen Tuition Scholarship Fund. “We’re happy to have these events and bring our team out and support local causes,” said Lois Christie, the owner of the salon, which has almost 100 employees and will celebrate 45 years of business this October. Three women were winners of the night’s raffl e. Linda Scharrer went home with a basket of beauty products worth $250, while Jean O’Gallagher and Mimi McKenna both won complete makeovers at Christie & Co. Salon valued at $150 each. Each person attending received a gift bag of sample and full-size beauty items worth approximately $100. Goodies included a gift certifi cate for a complimentary manicure at Christie & Co. Salon. Celebrity makeup artist Lori Neopolitano was the keynote speaker and demonstrated the latest spring makeup worn by the stars. The emphasis of the evening was introducing a new lash and brow bar at Christie’s Salon. “I feel very special today, they made me look so pretty,” said Jackie Rodriguez, who received a makeover. “It (the application) looked relatively easy, so I’ll see when I try it at home.” Christie’s Salon has served three generations of clients. “It’s a happy business, I always say, because when people look good, they definitely feel good,” Christie concluded.
