The mansions located at Queens private waterfront section of Douglaston are often referred to by the name of the family that once lived there. The mansion at 122 Grosvenor St. is thus still synonymous to Cuomo even though the governor sold the house in 1993 to join the Clinton administration. Cuomo lived in the house for three years with his then-wife Kerry Kennedy. The couple divorced in 2005. In 1993, Cuomo sold the house to neurologist Dr. Brian Hainline and his wife Pascale, according to Politico. The Hainlines owned the house until recently when they sold it to Elias and Sarah Roman, according to public records. Elias Roman works as a product manager at Google Play Music after he sold them a music app, Songza, which he co-founded. The Hainlines originally listed the mansion in May 2014 at $3.098 million. Since then, they have slashed the price three times to sell the house for over $600,000 less. The Cuomo Mansion lies on a quarter acre of land and has six bedrooms. According to The New York Times, Cuomo did extensive work on the house and didn’t expect to leave. Realtor Michael Stanco told Crain’s that the house is considered a “sister home” to Long Island’s Gold Coast estate, which is believed to have served as an inspiration for “The Great Gatsby.” Cuomo, a son of Italian immigrants, likes to recall his childhood in Hollis, and his grandmother’s grocery store in South Jamaica. He told The Times that he still considers Queens his first home.
