REAL ESTATE East Flushing is the best NYC neighborhood for healthy living, report says BY MIGUEL VASQUEZ editorial@qns.com/@QueensCourier When it comes to living healthy, East Flushing is the place to be. Real estate website Trulia released a report this week which noted East Flushing scored the highest of all New York neighborhoods on healthy living standards. Trulia focused on factors such as the fl ow of traffi c in the neighborhood; the amount of places for leisure activities; Sales in Queens HOMES – CO-OPS – CONDOS Listings and photos courtesy MLSLI NORTHWEST NORTHEAST SOUTHWEST SOUTHEAST ASTORIA BAYSIDE OZONE PARK JAMAICA ESTATES PICTURED LISTING and the proximity of care facilities within the area from hospitals to pharmacies and daycare centers. Two other New York neighborhoods that cracked the top 50 include Dyker Heights in Brooklyn, known for its Christmas lights tourist attraction; and Murray Hill located in Midtown, Manhattan, which New York Magazine calls “decidedly unhip,” but hey, it’s safe and healthy. Trulia’s also released brand-new interactive maps, which are meant to serve as guides for living well in cities across the Unites States. It allows viewers to see statistics from a number of categories ranging from a list of the most recent crimes, to the approval rating of local schools, commuting time, the affordability of residential property and the risk for natural disasters within the area. It even includes information about amenities such as restaurants, shopping, nightlife and arts/entertainment. East Flushing scored thanks to the safety and convenience of the area, in addition to nearby attractions, whether it’s taking a trip to see the beauty of the Queens Botanical Garden, catching a show full of talented performers at Flushing Town Hall, testing your marksmen skills with the guidance of Queens Archery, dining at the many restaurants in the neighborhood or taking the 7 train over to Citi Field for a thrilling Mets game.
