The robbery occurred on Feb. 22 at 4:30 a.m. when the 43-year-old male victim met a female suspect at the vicinity of 82nd Street and Roosevelt Avenue. They went back to the suspect’s motel room, located at 73-00 Queens Blvd., when the female suspect cut the victim on the hand with a knife and stole his phone and money. The male suspect, who was also in the motel room when the robbery occurred, has been arrested, police said. He was identified as 32-year-old Adam Arenas and was charged with seconddegree robbery. Arenas was also arrested last year for petit larceny. The female suspect, who police say is a transgender woman, has been identified as 34-year-old Gilbert Blake. Police describe the suspect as approximately 160 pounds and standing about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. All calls and messages are kept confidential. 110th Precinct Corona, Elmhurst A part of Verizon building collapsed onto the street, damaging six cars in Elmhurst A huge outer portion of a Verizon building in Elmhurst collapsed onto the street below early on Feb. 25 after a long night of torrential rain and windstorms. No one was hurt when the piece fell off the structure at around 1 a.m., according to a Verizon spokesperson. Six cars were damaged when they were hit down below, according to reports. The building is located on Broadway and Vietor Avenue. Vietor Avenue was still closed late in the morning of Feb. 25 as the debris was being cleared. According to an eyewitness on the scene, the building looked as if water and wind damage from the storm weakened the side of the building, causing the exterior wall of the building to slide off in thin chunks. The Verizon spokesperson said that both the building and the information network were fully operational by the morning of Feb. 25 and the company is investigating the cause of the collapse. “We’re assessing the situation,” the spokesperson said. 114th Precinct Astoria, Long Island City Cops are searching for a suspect who shot a man in LIC Police are looking for a suspect who shot a man on a Long Island City street on Feb. 29. According to authorities, the suspect approached a 32-year-old man who was walking to his car at 38th Avenue and Ninth Street at about 1:30 p.m. Feb. 29. The perpetrator told the victim to lie on the ground before reportedly pulling out a revolver and shooting him in the left arm. The victim was transported to New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where he is in stable condition. The suspect, described as a black male, approximately 40 to 45 years old, about 5 feet, 7 inches, fled southbound on Ninth Street. He was last seen wearing a blue work helmet, a yellow jacket and black clothing. All calls and messages are kept confidential. 115th Precinct Corona, East Elmhurst, Jackson Heights A man who allegedly groped a 10-year-old in Jackson Heights was arrested Police arrested a 29-year-old man on Feb. 29 in connection with two attempted sexual assaults in Jackson Heights earlier this month. Luis Ramon Bencosme, 29, of 93rd Street was charged with the failed groping of a 17-year-old girl in the area of 35th Avenue and 92nd Street at 8:05 p.m. on Feb. 17. According to authorities, Bencosme went to touch the victim’s buttocks, but she fled before he could get his hands on her. Then at 2:50 p.m. on Feb. 23, police said, Bencosme allegedly groped a 10-year-old girl’s buttocks in the area of 37th Avenue and 99th Street. Security camera footage that police released last week showed the man later identified as Bencosme partially hiding his face with his hand. Following an investigation by the NYPD Queens Special Victims Squad, Bencosme was charged Monday with sex abuse, attempted forcible touching and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
