Police are searching for two suspects who attacked a man in the Rockaways before stealing his pricey headphones and electronic gadgets. The pair approached the 33-year-old victim from behind at 5:25 p.m. on Feb. 4 inside of the Edgemere Houses on Beach Channel Drive and began kicking and punching him, authorities said. They then took his Samsung tablet, Beats headphones and Samsung cellphone before fleeing on foot. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). 102nd Precinct Kew Gardens, Richmond Hill, Woodhaven and Ozone Park Hit-and-run in Richmond Hill leaves woman seriously injured Police are looking for the driver of an SUV who struck a 63-year-old woman in Richmond Hill before fleeing. The incident happened on 89th Avenue near Lefferts Compiled by Cristabelle Tumola and Salvatore Licata Boulevard about 8:45 a.m. on Feb. 22, police said. The driver was traveling eastbound on 89th Avenue when the car hit the woman. The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital in serious condition, but is likely to survive. Authorities said the driver fled the scene eastbound on 89th Avenue. As of press time, they were searching for the vehicle, a 2013-15 dark gray Nissan Pathfinder SUV, and have released video footage of the car. To see the footage, visit www.queenscourier.com. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). 108th Precinct Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside Man charged in deadly Long Island City beating A man has turned himself in following a fatal beating near a Long Island City police precinct, authorities said. Kaheem Addison, 29, of Huntington Station, Long Island, allegedly got into a dispute with Jose Antonio Cocuyo-Malaga, 32, about 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 20 at 50th Avenue and Vernon Boulevard, which turned violent. Police found Cocuyo-Malaga unconscious with head trauma upon their arrival. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police would not confirm what caused the fight, but according to the New York Post, Cocuyo-Malaga, a married father and chef from Astoria, was attacked after he tried to catch a ride from what he thought was a livery cab. Addison got out of the car and “rushed” Cocuyo- Malaga, the Post said, and, as they struggled, his head was slammed into the sidewalk. Addison then fled. Witnesses then alerted police at the 108th Precinct, which is just around the corner on 50th Avenue, reports said. Addison turned himself into the same precinct station house with his lawyer by his side on Feb. 21, according to police. He has since been charged with manslaughter. 111th Precinct Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, Auburndale, Hollis Hills and Fresh Meadows Woman raped inside Northern Boulevard spa: NYPD A 42-year-old woman was raped inside a Northern Boulevard spa after a man walked into the facility armed with a gun, police said. The rape happened about 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 21 at a spa located within the 111th Precinct. The suspect had an appointment scheduled for that morning and when he arrived he took out a gun and raped the victim in a rear room of the spa, authorities said. It wasn’t clear if the victim was an employee. Police have released video footage of the suspect and describe him as in his 20s, 6 to 6 feet 2 inches tall, heavy set, light skinned and with a chin strap style beard. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (8477). 115th Precinct East Elmhurst, Corona and Jackson Heights Suspect identified in fatal December stabbing of Jackson Heights man Police have identified a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man who was killed just steps from his Jackson Heights apartment last year. Steven Shimabuku was murdered close to his 90th Street home, near 35th Avenue, at about 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 19, police said. He was able to make it back to his Photo courtesy of NYPD basement apartment, where his girlfriend called 911, according to the Daily News. Shimabuku had been stabbed in the torso after getting into an argument on the street, police said. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Detectives have identified William Avila as a suspect in Shimabuku’s murder, just over a month after police released a video and photo of a suspect. Avila is 22 years old, Hispanic, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 160 pounds.
