The potent beauty of celebratory festivals, initiations and other traditional rituals will be conveyed through masterful objects made of wood, metal and terra cotta in the exhibit. Amadou Njoya is a fourth generation Cameroonian born into a family of distinguished artisans and advisors for the royal family of the Kingdom of Bamum. FRIDAY, MARCH 14 King Manor Museum partners with Five Boroughs Music Festival to present Les Delices, a Clevelandbased, critically-acclaimed ensemble performing French Baroque music on period instruments. The program will feature works by Philidor, Guillemain, Leclair and Rameau. The event will start at 6 p.m. where there will be wine and light refreshments. SATURDAY, MARCH 15 The Queensborough Performing Arts Center will have David Alan Grier with special guest Godfrey on the stage at 8p.m. The star of In Living Color, David Alan Grier may be best known as a dexterous TV comedy star, but he is also a multi talented veteran of musicals, plays, and numerous fi lms. Godfrey is one of the hottest comedians on their circuit performing all over the country and hitting all the major festivals. Tickets are $40 and are available now. SUNDAY, MARCH 16 The Irish Festival will continue to celebrate the Irish gifts of music, food and culture to America. There will be a number of music and dance performances throughout the day, as well as a variety of vendors and authentic Irish food. All net proceeds benefi t the Hofstra University Scholarship Fund. Returning this year will be The Tommy Mulvihill Band, The Black Velvet Band, Katie’s Puppets, Hirten Family Irish Dancers and MC Tony Jackson. Come to the recently reopened Queens Museum on Friday, March 7 from 7-10 p.m. (doors open 6 p.m.) to participate in the world’s only geographical trivia-based game night at the world’s largest panorama – The Panorama of the City of New York! The Panorama Challenge involves questions about assorted city landmarks, bridges, neighborhoods, parks and more. Participants will compete in teams of 10 (or so) and will play either as a Panorama Challenger or Panorama Pro team. The suggested admission fee of $15 with all proceeds going to support the City Reliquary Museum in Williamsburg, Brooklyn dedicated to collecting NYC ephemera. Each of the drawings on view reveals a very different facet of his quest to form a unique artistic identity in the years following his apprenticeship with Brancusi. The selection of drawings on view covers exercises from the life drawing classes he took at Academie Collarosi and L’Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris in 1927, as well as his distillations of signature strains of Modernism he encountered in Paris and New York.
