FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT www.qns.com FEBRUARY 18, 2016 • The Queens Courier 25 DOUGLASTON/LITTLE NECK LIBRARY’S RECENT EVENTS The first event was the opening reception of the Douglaston Historical Aerial Photographs exhibit on January 9th, as co-sponsored by the Douglaston and Little Neck Historical Society (www.dlnhs.org). Then, on January 21st, the monthly Open Mic saw an array of talented poets, singers, musicians, come- dians, and others perform their own material. Finally, on January 30th, long-time Douglaston resident Junko Fisher took the audience on a musical journey through the many regions of Japan. Okinawan-born a nd Tokyo-trained, Junko demonstrated her mastery of Japanese folk singing, music, dance, and Photos: C. Stossel her virtuososity on the sanshin folk instrument. All of these events were sponsored or co-sponsored by the Friends of the Douglaston/Little Neck Community Library, who are unpaid volunteer advo- cates for their branch library specifically and the Queens Library in general.
