Serial wallet thief
still on the loose
Cops are still looking for the suspect
believed to have swiped wallets and
phones from nine diff erent women in
downtown Flushing over the course of
three months.
Between Oct. 29, 2017, and Jan. 16,
an unidentifi ed man removed property
from nine individuals in the neighborhood,
according to police. Th e majority
of the incidents took place on Main
Street in the vicinity of 40th Road, an
NYPD spokesperson noted. Police provided
information about the initial eight
incidents in December.
In the most recent incident on Jan.
16, authorities said, a female victim was

Celebrity jeweler’s killer
convicted of manslaughter
A former MTA train operator was convicted
last week for using his car to kill a
Forest Hills jeweler following a traffi c dispute
more than two years ago, prosecutors
announced.
Charles Jordan, 48, of Valley Stream
was found guilty of fi rst-degree manslaughter
and felony leaving the scene
of an accident, Queens District Attorney
Richard A. Brown said. He faces up to
25 years to life in prison when he is sentenced
on March 12.
Just aft er 11 p.m. on the night of July
19, 2015, prosecutors said, Aron “Eric”
Aranbayev — a married father of four
who served celebrity clients out of his
jewelry store in Manhattan’s Diamond
District — exited from a vehicle on
71st Avenue when Jordan drove by at
a high rate of speed inside a dark blue
2005 Dodge Magnum. Th is led to a brief
confrontation between Aranbayev and
Jordan, who had backed up his vehicle to
argue with the victim.
Moments later, authorities said, Jordan
backed up his vehicle a second time and
struck Aranbayev with his vehicle, causing
him to hit the pavement. Jordan then
sped away from the scene.
Aranbayev died shortly thereaft er as a
result of brain damage and a skull fracture.
Jordan was apprehended nearly a week
later through a joint investigation by the
Queens North Homicide Squad and the
112th Precinct Detective Squad.

Man beats up & robs
teen at high school
Police are looking for a man who followed
a teenager into a high school in
Astoria, then beat him up and robbed him
of his phone.
According to police, at 6:38 p.m. on
Feb. 11, the unidentifi ed suspect followed
the 18-year-old male victim into
St. John’s Preparatory School, located at
21-21 Crescent St.
As the victim entered an elevator, law
enforcement sources said, the crook
punched the victim several times about
the head, causing swelling and bruising.
Th e assailant stole the victim’s cellphone
before fl eeing the scene.
Offi cers from the 114th Precinct
responded to the incident. Th e victim
was treated for his injuries at Mount Sinai
Queens Hospital.
Police describe the suspect as a black
man in his 20s, standing 6 feet tall and
weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen
wearing a blue jacket and blue pants.

Peeing man pulls knife
on witness at station
He just couldn’t hold it in any longer.
Cops are looking for a man who was
caught relieving himself at an Astoria
subway station platform — and then
pulled a knife on the witness who saw
him do it.
According to police, at 2:18 p.m. on
Jan. 27, a 43-year-old man was at the
Broadway station when he saw the suspect
urinating on the platform. He went
up to the peeing perp and asked what he
was doing while taking a picture of him.
Law enforcement sources aid the suspect
then displayed a knife and began to
threaten the victim, who tried to get away
from the suspect in the station. He followed
the victim for a short period of
time before fl eeing the station on foot.
Police described the knife-wielding suspect
as a Hispanic man in his 50s and
standing 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing
a brown coat, a green shirt, a gray
sweater, blue slacks and brown shoes.

walking up the stairs at 41-60 Main St. at
around 5:20 p.m. when she felt the perpetrator
touch her purse. She then discovered
the suspect removed her iPhone
6, as well as four credit cards and one
debit card. Th e suspect later made an
unauthorized transaction on the victim’s
debit card for $122.
All victims in the nine reported incidents
were Asian females who had their
wallets and/or phones removed, police
said.
Cops described the person of interest
as a black man in his 40s.
