CIMINO 107TH PRECINCT Fresh Meadows, Cunningham Heights, Hilltop Village, Electchester, Pomonok Seek suspect in bank robbery Police are looking s for the man they say held up a Union Turnpike bank. On Friday, January 11, the suspect entered the Sovereign Bank on Union Turnpike, approached a teller, and passed a note demanding money.  After receiving money, the suspect fled the location. There were no injuries. The perp is described as 40-year-old black man, 200 pounds, 5’7”, with brown eyes, last seen wearing a black cap and brown waist-length jacket. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers’ website at www. nypdcrimestoppers.com. 109TH PRECINCT Downtown Flushing, East Flushing, Queensboro Hill, College Point, Malba, Whitestone, Beechhurst and Bay Terrace Apparent suicide On Thursday, February 7, police responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a man inside a residence on Roosevelt Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed 49-year-old Guang Zhe Jin, unconscious and unresponsive, with an apparent stab wound to the chest. EMS also responded to the location and pronounced the man dead at the scene. There are no arrest(s) and the investigation is ongoing. Man arrested for setting shed on fire A man was arrested for setting fire to a homeowner’s shed on Tuesday, February 12. According to a police source, Mohammed Koshani, 38, set a shed on fire at 46th Avenue and 160th Street. He attempted to flee but was arrested on scene. Police found a controlled substance in his possession. Koshani, with eight prior arrests, is charged with arson, reckless endangerment, burglary, criminal trespass and possession of a controlled substance. 110TH PRECINCT Corona, Elmhurst and LeFrak City Man dead in motel room A Middle Village man was found unconscious inside of his motel room, and cops are investigating it as a homicide. Joseph Benzinger, 54, was lying on the floor inside a motel room at the Crown Motor Inn in Elmhurst when police found him on Saturday, February 9 at 11:40 p.m. There was evidence of him being strangled, according to police, but a medical examiner is still determining the exact cause of death. EMS personnel responded to the location and brought him to the hospital, but Benzinger could not be revived, and he was pronounced dead on arrival. As of Monday, February 11, there were no suspects in custody. The investigation is ongoing. MAGGIE HAYES 112TH PRECINCT Forest Hills and Rego Park Help police pinch pilferer Police are looking for the woman who allegedly pilfered another’s purse. On Sunday, January 20, while inside the Century 21 located at 61-35 Junction Boulevard, the suspect removed a wallet from the pocketbook of a shopper without her permission or knowledge.  Police say the perp is a woman between 40 and 50 years old, approximately 5’4”, with a heavy build and long black hair, wearing a black coat and black pants. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS. 114TH PRECINCT Astoria, Long Island City, Woodside and Jackson Heights Three-year-old dies after falling out of apartment window in Woodside A three-year-old died tragically over the weekend after she fell out of the window of her Woodside apartment, said police. After the girl, Rusroshi Barua, fell from the 32nd Avenue building Sunday afternoon, February 10, she was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and was pronounced dead that evening. According to ABC New York, Barua got locked inside her family’s sixth-floor bathroom along with her two-year-old sister, but her parents weren’t able to open the door before she fell. Police told ABC New York that there were no bars on the window. No criminality is suspected and the investigation is ongoing. CRISTABELLE TUMOLA 115TH PRECINCT East Elmhurst, North Corona and Jackson Heights Seek iPhone thief Police are looking for the man they say stole a woman’s iPhone while riding the No. 7 train. The incident happened on Tuesday, February 5, when the suspect grabbed the victim’s iPhone out of her hand and fled the train. There were no reported injuries. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, between 18 and 20 years old, 5’9” tall, stocky build. Two kayakers rescued after fall in Jamaica Bay Police rescued two kayakers who fell into the waters of Jamaica Bay on Saturday, February 9. NYPD Air Sea rescue responded to a 9-1-1 call around 3 p.m. and rescued the men, both 32. Divers recovered the first man and transported him to Floyd Bennett Field. The man was then transferred to Kings County Hospital where he is in stable condition. The second kayaker swam to an anchored boat in the harbor. A detective from the Emergency Service Unit saw the distressed boater and responded. He too swam to the boat and aided the man. Both kayakers were being treated for hypothermia and listed in stable condition. TERENCE CULLEN On December 29, 2012, the armed suspects held up the Quality Inn on 94th Avenue. They made off with money and an iPad. On February 4, the suspects made off with an undetermined amount of cash from the Howard Johnson on Rockaway Boulevard. The next day, they held up the La Quinta on the Van Wyck Expressway. In all three incidents, the suspects fled the scene in a silver Audi.
