nothing.
According to police, at noon on Feb. 3
two unknown men entered residence in
the vicinity of 123rd Street and Liberty
Avenue. Th ey encountered a 29-year-old
man and a 56-year-old man and displayed
a fi rearm.
Law enforcement sources said the suspects
tied up the victims with zip ties, but
ultimately fl ed the scene empty-handed.
Following the incident, a 27-yearold
pregnant female who was inside the
apartment went into labor. She was transported
to a local hospital in stable condition.
No injuries were reported.
Police described the suspects as black
men, one with a slim build and the other
with a heavy set build.

Man dies months after
Jamaica mugging
An Elmhurst man who was robbed
of his phone and punched in the side
of the head in front of a Jamaica store
last September died of his injuries last
week, and his death was ruled a homicide,
police said.
At approximately 6:28 p.m. on Sept.
28, 2017, 66-year-old Mohamaad Alam
of Pettit Avenue was talking on his cellphone
in front of MIM Wireless, located
at 167-05 Hillside Ave., when an
unknown individual approached him and
grabbed his phone from his ear, fl eeing
the scene on foot westbound on Hillside
Avenue.
When Alam attempted to chase the suspect,
he was punched in the side of the
head by another suspect, who also fl ed the
scene on foot.
EMS responded to the scene and transported
Alam to Elmhurst Hospital in critical
condition.
Following an investigation, on Oct. 2,
2017, offi cers arrested Shyquan Kimble,
16, of Far Rockaway and Jaleel Steele, 16,
of Jamaica and charged them with two
counts of robbery and assault.
On Jan. 28, Alam died of injuries at
Saint John’s Hospital. Th e incident is now
being investigated as a homicide.
Additional charges against Kimbel and
Steele are pending the results of the ongoing
investigation.

Five Cardozo teens
hospitalized after bleach fi ght
Cops are pressing charges against a
teenage girl who threw a cup of bleach
during a fi ght at Benjamin Cardozo High
School in Bayside on the morning of
Friday, Feb. 2.
Five students, including the unidentifi
ed assailant, were hospitalized with
minor injuries during the incident that
occurred at 11:27 a.m. on Feb. 2 inside the
school located at 57-00 223rd St.
According to police, two 16-year-old
girls were in the middle of an argument
when one of them threw what appeared
to be pickle juice at the other girl. Aft er
being hit with the juice, authorities said,
the other girl then grabbed bleach and
threw it at her rival, splattering her and
three other students in the process.
At this time, police do not know how
the girl got hold of the substance.
Offi cers from the 111th Precinct and
EMS units responded to the incident. Th e
fi ve students were brought to a local hospital
for treatment.
Th e identity of the bleach-thrower was
not disclosed.

Astoria & Long Island City
LIC shooter busted upstate
Police arrested an upstate man for
shooting a woman in the stomach on
the streets of Long Island City last
month.
According to police, at 6:56 a.m. on
Jan. 26, 23-year-old Snooze Brown of
Middletown, NY, got into an argument
with his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend in the
vicinity of 41st Avenue and 10th Street.
During the argument, Brown displayed
a fi rearm and shot toward his ex.
Law enforcement sources said the
shot missed his ex-girlfriend, but struck
a 28-year-old woman, a teacher who
was walking from a nearby train station,
in the stomach.
EMS responded to the scene and
transported the victim to Cornell
Hospital, where she was treated for
non-life-threatening injuries. Police say
that there was no prior relationship
between Brown and the victim.
On Feb. 6, Brown was arrested and
charged with attempted murder, assault,
reckless endangerment and criminal
possession of a weapon.

Boy dies after falling
into Forest Park pond
A Glendale boy has died aft er being
pulled from an ice-covered pond in
Forest Park on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
Authorities identifi ed the victim as
Anthony Perez, 11, of 88th Lane who
was with another boy at Strack Pond
in Forest Park when the incident took
place.
According to fi re offi cials, the FDNY
responded to a call of a person that had
fallen into Strack Pond, in the vicinity of
Woodhaven Boulevard and Forest Park
Drive, at approximately
4:05 p.m. on Feb. 6.
Fire offi cials said that
there were two children
involved. One of them
called for help but it was
not yet known if that
child also fell into the
water. Th e other child fell
into the water, was rescued
and was provided
medical attention at the
scene.
Paramedics then rushed the victim to
Jamaica Hospital in serious condition.
Two fi refi ghters are also being treated
for hypothermia, fi re offi cials said.
According to the Daily News, Perez
was actually standing near the side of
the pond, and it was his friend who fell
into the water fi rst. Th e report said that
Perez rushed in to pull his friend to
safety but couldn’t get himself back out
of the water, and was then submerged
under the ice for up to a half hour while
his friend ran to fi nd help.
Police could not immediately confi rm
the details of that report.
At the scene, the FDNY posted a tweet
with photos of the signage around the
pond and urged parents to explain the
dangers of thin ice to their children.
