sports FOR BREAKING NEWS VISIT WWW.QNS.COM JANUARY 5, 2017 • THE QUEENS COURIER 27 Cardozo High School sets meet record in distance medley at Marine Corps Holiday Classic BY JOSEPH SWIFT @JswiftSports Bayside’s Benjamin Cardozo High School girls track team ended 2016 in fashionable style with double victories on Th ursday, Dec. 29, at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic in the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center on Fort Washington Avenue in Manhattan. Th e Cardozo distance medley relay team of Abigail Perez, Tatianna Martinez, Shalah Means and Sophia Muccini set a new meet record and a U.S. No. 1 with a time of 12:19.15. Th e girls 4 x 800- meter relay team of Perez, Martinez, Muccini and Means also took home a title, clinching their second victory at the event. Th e girls are excited to compete in the rest of the 2017 indoor season.
