In early October 2013, she was diagnosed with a paraganglioma tumor outside her kidney which has metastasized to her spine in several areas. is disease a ects one in eight million children. Since it is so rare, there are not enough resources for treatment options and therapies. Brittany has already undergone sterotactic radiation therapy and just nished up a major surgery to remove the primary tumor from her kidney area at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital. Brittany attended the Howard Beach Judea Center Pre-K and graduated from P.S./M.S. 207Q with honors. She is currently a junior at St. Francis Preparatory High School in Fresh Meadows, New York. She is an honor student and has been on the Principal’s List. She wants to travel from coast to coast in Italy and explore her Italian heritage using some language skills she has learned in her Italian honors class. Brittany dreams of someday being accepted to Yale University and based upon her new experience with medicine, she now aspires to be a doctor someday to help others. is picture was taken in June, 2013 for her sixteenth birthday. A er her party, she cut o ten inches of her hair and donated it to Locks of Love to help out a child with cancer (and now she’s growing it out to donate again!). Brittany is a beautiful girl both inside and out, she has been brave and strong throughout this ordeal.
