Due to

current
ordinance of
curtailing group activities, The
North Shore Towers Board of Directors/
Migdal Chapter of Hadassah at
NST had to cancel the annual commemorative
Holocaust Program that
had been scheduled for April 20.
However, the North Shore Towers
Courier inquired if there could be
another way to acknowledge this

important program.
In fact there is something we can
all do while we shelter in place and
the title of this article should give
you a clue. We can write or email
our federal legislators in Congress
to pass the “Never Again Education
Act” in 2020. This bill would establish
federal funds to finance private
and public middle schools to help
teachers develop and improve
universal Holocaust educational
programs. It has bipartisan support
across the country, including US
Representative Carolyn Maloney
(Democrat, NY); and Senators
Jacky Rosen (Democrat, Nevada),
Kevin Cramer (Republican, No.
Dakota), Mario Rubio (Republican,
Florida), and Richard Blumenthal
(Democrat, Connecticut).
Its passage will make sure that all
future generations will be educated
in the Holocaust history. It will also
silence those who wish to rewrite
history claiming that the Holocaust
never happened. Such mandated
learning will set an example for all
generations to learn about every
race and religion, with the goal to
eliminate bigotry.
This proactive movement will
be especially meaningful to those
NST residents who escaped the
Holocaust or whose families were
affected by it. Your actions will
help to ensure that the six million
Jewish individuals and others who
were annihilated in the Holocaust
did not die in vain.

What Is a “Gourmet PURIM ‘Non-Event?’”
BY DEE-DEE GOIDEL
What Is a “Gourmet PURIM ‘Non-Event?’”
It is uncommon to be invited to attend a “Non-Event,” especially when the word “Gourmet” is
in the title. It sounds a bit odd…but…Migdal’s PURIM “Non-Event” is an appeal that makes it
possible for all donated funds to go directly to the source of need.
Remember that Hadassah members who organize the appeal are all volunteers and there is
also no cost for catering to a Gourmet “Non-Event.” It is, in essence, doubling your personal
donations when you give in this novel way without receiving anything personally in return--
except a big Hadassah “Thank You” (and, hopefully, a tax deduction).
So, calorie counters, please take another look at the Gourmet PURIM “Non-Event” menu items
below. There is no need to chew--only a need to choose.
PURIM “Non-Event” Menu*
(Please select from one of the following choices)
Provide a Feeding Tube………………………… $36
Buy a New IV Stand………………………………. $54

*Even though PURIM has passed, your donation will always be gratefully accepted, and ANY
amount you can contribute will be your PURIM MITZVAH. Thank you!
Make checks payable to Hadassah.
