North Shore Towers Courier n February 2014 25 King and Taylor serenade NST Harris and Evelyn Pinsky, Della and Steve Silverman Towers residents took seats in the VIP Room of the Country Club and were transported through space and time on Thursday, December 26. They found themselves in the Troubadour Night Club in West Hollywood for a reunion concert by Carol King and James Taylor. Thanks to the Entertainment Committee headed by Steve Silverman, residents enjoyed the November 2007 performance, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the famed night spot – where King and Taylor first performed together in 1970. In addition to signature numbers like Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” and King’s “So far Away,” they played the songs that got them started: King’s “Will You Still Love me Tomorrow,” a 1960 smash hit for the Shirelles, and Taylor’s “Something in the Way She Moves.” The music icons have long been fast friends. Taylor noted that King generously allowed him to record his version of her “You’ve Got a Friend,” while she was still working on “Tapestry,” one of the best-selling albums of all time. As you can see, the duo’s good feelings as they harmonized warmed those in attendance on a frigid winter night. Fran Zuckerman, June Cooperstone and Eileen Kanfer share the feeling. Ruth and Bernie Goldstein await the performance Harriet Rosengarten and Della Silverman are all smiles.
