Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island provides children
facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionallysupported,
one-to-one relationships to improve their lives. Mr.
Woycik is past-president and instituted an endowment program
that has raised substantial funds for children in need. The
headquarters building is named in honor of Mr. Woycik for his
commitment and volunteer efforts for more than 30 years.

America’s Vet Dogs programs provide enhanced mobility and
renewed independence to veterans, active-duty service members
and first responders with disabilities, allowing them to live with
pride and self-reliance. The organization specializes in placing
highly-skilled service and guide dogs to individuals with physical
injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), hearing and vision
loss, and seizures. Mr. Woycik has been instrumental in raising funds
through gift giving and the annual golf outing honoring military

Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) enhances the lives of people with disabilities,
including veterans, by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure
quality partnerships. The assistance dogs create new opportunities and new possibilities for
people that lead to increased independence and confidence. CCI recently instituted a program for
soldiers with PTSD and Mr. Woycik started a Veteran Initiative Program (VIP) to recognize veterans
from conflicts that occurred during World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and the War
Against Terrorism. This annual Veterans Day salute has raised more than $500,000 to support the

Hofstra University Athletics features 21 intercollegiate sports for men and women that compete at
the NCAA Division I level in the Colonial Athletic Association and Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling
Association. Mr. Woycik has received numerous recognitions from the university: 1998 Hofstra
Alumnus of the Year, 1999 Hofstra University Veteran of the Year and 2009 Athletic Department’s
distinguished service member for outstanding contributions to athletics and academics. He served as
president (2010-1015) of the Hofstra University Athletic Association and remains active in the Hofstra
Pride Club. He recently instituted the Colonel E. David Woycik, Jr. Pride Leadership Academy to
promote success by instilling his motto (H-Honesty, I- Integrity, L-Loyalty, L- Leadership and SService
-- the HILLS FACTOR) to selected student athletes. The program features world-class

Hofstra University Maurice A. Deane School of Law prepares, challenges and inspires students to
advance important ideas through the legal academy, the profession and society. Mr. Woycik received
the 2005 Distinguished Law School Graduate Award for his outstanding achievements in the law field.
He has lectured at Hofstra Law School in the Trial Litigation Program for more than 20 years. The
nationally renowned Trial Techniques Program has been named the E. David Woycik, Jr. Trial
Techniques Program for his commitment to Hofstra Law School and his skills as a trial attorney.

Learning During
Difficult Year
Recently, Mr. Metzger contributed six figures supporting the efforts of
a former teammate, friend and colleague, Mr. David Woycik, Jr. These
presentations went to Long Island nonprofits and Hofstra during a
critical time as many organizations address fundraising, operation,
and volunteer concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.
About E. David Woycik, Jr. Mr. Woycik received his undergraduate degree and Juris Doctorate degree
from Hofstra University. He was a member of the varsity lacrosse team and the Crown & Lance
Fraternity. As past-president of the Hofstra Alumni Organization, Mr. Woycik was instrumental in
instituting Alumni Appreciation Day for all alumna to donate their time and/or resources to the university.
Colonel Woycik served overseas in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait for Operation Desert Storm and recently
for Operation Enduring Freedom in the War Against Terrorism. He is a well-decorated soldier and has
been awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Ribbon. He is
married to Carolyn Sanchez from Los Angeles and they reside in Garden City, New York.
