Parker Jewish Institute begins socially-distanced family visits
New Hyde Park, New York, June 23,
2020 – Parker Jewish Institute is now
offering families the opportunity to
spend time with their loved ones through
scheduled, outdoor family visits. With this
initiative, families can arrange to visit their
loved ones from a safe distance, remaining
inside their vehicles, parked in front of
Parker at pre-arranged times.
The carefully planned reunions
follow months of virtual visits that were
necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic
in order to meet guidelines set forth by
the U.S. Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention and the New York State
Department of Health.
The first visits began Thursday, June
18, and Friday, June 19, from 10 a.m.
to 5 p.m. To accommodate as many
families as possible, visits were scheduled
at 15-minute intervals, allowing for
10-minute visits, and a five-minute buffer
between visits.
For these visits, patients and residents
can participate if they are currently
COVID-free and medically stable, as well
as free from any health-related issues that
might otherwise put them at risk.
All visitors must wear masks, which
will be made available by Parker Jewish
Institute.
Letters informing families about the
visits were sent out last week, so that
they could reserve a time slot by calling
Parker’s dedicated Family Call Center at
718-289-2888.
“We are thri l led to of fer this
opportunity for families so that they
may reconnect in person, all the while
maintaining a safe distance,” said
Michael N. Rosenblut, Parker’s President
and CEO. “Our mission goes beyond
caring for residents, but doing whatever
we can to meet the needs of Parker’s
extended family, and we just can’t wait
to welcome them back.”
Family visits are subject to change based
on current federal and state health safety
guidelines.
