Students Choosing SUNY Old Westbury
in Higher and Higher Numbers
With more than 5,000 students
registered for classes this year
– the largest student body in its
history – the College continues
a pattern of success that extends
more than a decade over which
time it achieved enrollment
growth of 46 percent.
“The future is bright for our
students and our college,”
said President Calvin O.
Butts, III. “More and more
students are responding to our
combination of challenging
academic coursework,
commitment to the enriching value of
human diversity, personal attention,
real-world opportunities, and a
vibrant campus life.”
Growth in enrollment isn’t the only
symbol of the quality of SUNY Old
Westbury. The College last fall was
ranked for the second consecutive
year by Money Magazine among
the colleges and universities that are
the best value in America in its “Best
Colleges” issue.
The higher education services provider
CollegeNet, Inc. placed SUNY Old
Westbury 56th among nearly 1,500
institutions nationwide in its 2019
Social Mobility Index. And in
a recent study by the website
LendU, the college placed
among the top one-third
most desirable colleges and
universities in the nation.
A large focus of the College
is the implementation of its
“Student Success Initiative,”
which encompasses campuswide
efforts to keep students on
track to graduation, informed of
the services and opportunities
available to them, and moving
forward toward the completion
of their degrees.
“We are proud that students and families
continue to recognize that SUNY Old
Westbury offers the best of both worlds
– a small college environment with
academic programs that challenge the
mind and prepare students to own their
futures,” said Butts.
