Recognition for
Parker Jewish Institute in the
battle against COVID-19
Parker has served our community for over 100 years, providing adult health care and rehabilitation that few institutions can match,
and none exceed, as Parker is a multi-year recipient of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid’s coveted Five Star Quality Rating.
In this extraordinary moment it is important that we recognize that Parker, and nursing homes like it, are on the frontlines of the
battle against our globally common enemy, the novel coronavirus. We remember that it is always the soldiers on the front lines
that suffer the greatest casualties, but it is these same warriors by whom victory is won. The men and women of Parker report for
duty day in and day out to protect and care for our community’s most vulnerable citizens, and to them we owe a debt of gratitude.
Parker has led this battle from the front by being a vanguard in laboratory testing for COVID-19, implementing infection
prevention controls, creating a COVID-19 surveillance system, and reporting all severe respiratory infections or deaths to our New
York State Health Department.
So in this moment when we are all saddened to hear how the nation’s nursing homes have been ground zero for the worst ravages
of COVID-19, it is time to stand with the real heroes of our community into whose loving care we entrust the wellbeing of those in
our community who need it the most.
We thank all of our supporters!
