www.qns.com I LIC COURIER I DECEMBER 2018 29
While Adriana’s designs are faith-ful
to the traditional motifs and
techniques of Oaxaca, she often
experiments with new color combi-nations
or other simple twists that
give her pieces a special flare. As
Adriana holds up each embroidered
piece, she explains the time needed
to craft each of them. "This is truly
my passion," she concludes. "I'm so
happy to have this business and to
spread awareness of my culture."
She is a wealth of suggestions
on how best to showcase each of
her creations. One takeaway: pair
bold, colorful jewelry with simple,
minimalist outfits, or when donning
colorful frocks, minimize acces-sories
and let the garment shine
on its own.
Adriana’s new venture is already
attracting wide notice: she was
part of the Museum of Natural His-tory’s
Dia de Los Muertos festival
this year, and she is also currently
vending at the Bliss Plaza Pop-
Up Holiday Market in Sunnyside
through December 16th.
To embark on your own exploration
at Adriana Boutique, Adriana recom-mends
calling in advance to confirm
current store hours and ensure maxi-mum
availability of handicrafts on
hand as she builds her presence in
her shared storefront. You can also
check out her offerings at the Bliss
Plaza Pop Up Holiday Market at 46th
Street and Queens Boulevard every
Saturday and Sunday from now until
December 16th, 12-6 p.m.
