We are happy to report that the LIC Flea & Food Holiday Market opened on December 7. Located indoors, contiguous to the site of the outdoor one, this fabulous holiday market will be held every weekend until December 22 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market is free to the public and features vendors with antiques, vintage clothing, furniture, gifts, handcrafted items, holographic art, food from around the world and even fresh-picked Christmas trees. LIC Flea is also hosting live holiday music by the Danny Wellington Band, free pictures with Santa, bowling at a portable bowling lane provided by JIB Lanes and soccer classes with the New York Cosmos soccer club, the new NASL Soccer Bowl Champions. So be sure to make the LIC Flea & Food Holiday Market your next holiday weekend destination for great holiday shopping bargains! Before we go into what we have brought you this month, we wanted to send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Alan Capper, one of LIC Courier’s wonderful writers. For our front cover we took a look at the grand opening of the LIC Flea & Food Holiday Market which will feature Santa Clause. What a better way to start the holidays? We congratulate Kaufman Astoria Studios for opening the fi rst outdoor movie lot in New York City. Hello Hollywood, watch out! We are also happy to report, that although it will be taking some time, the plans to bring Citi Bike to our borough are fi nally on a roll. Read and see the restored beloved Shady Park fi . It fi nally has its trees back and the Sunnyside and LIC neighborhoods have been lit up for the holidays. Also, take a look at 5Pointz before and after it was whitewashed with great photos!
