For our front cover this month, we feature one of the many colorful photos that are part of the newly-released book “Queens: A Culinary Passport.” This food guide was written by an Astoria resident who wanted to share the many different ethnic cuisines that can be found in our wonderful borough. Check out our interview with her and also a recipe, straight from the book, that allows you to bring the diversity of Queens into your own kitchen. All the photos are bound to make your stomach begin to growl. In this October issue, we delve deeper into our real estate coverage for the western Queens neighborhoods. We would like to welcome our real estate reporter Liam La Guerre, who is keeping us up to date with everything and anything real estate related in our neighborhoods. If it’s going up or down, Liam has it. This month he brings us the news of a Doughnut Plant coming to Long Island City, updates on different developments, and many other stories. Make sure to check out his renderings, interviews and in-depth reporting! This month one of our columnists brings us healthy version of our fall guilty pleasures. Learn how to make treats that will still have you feeling fit and clean. We also like to report the grand opening of Teddy Mountain of Astoria, which will bring the children of the neighborhood the chance to build their own stuffed animals and also come in and play. Also in this issue, make sure to check out an LIC actress who co-wrote a web series, a poet who is getting ready to launch her second book, and an artist who is looking to change the art scene in the entire borough, not just western Queens. Even with the summer weather gone, we are happy to report that the LIC Flea & Food is still going strong at the outdoor lot at Fifth Street and 46th Avenue. The market, which is open both Saturdays and Sunday, has some fun upcoming fall activities just in time for Oktoberfest. Also, don’t forget to check out the LIC Flea Beer Garden, set up along the basin in the back of the market with views of the Manhattan skyline and outdoor seating. So grab your jackets, scarves and boots and go exploring your neighborhoods. Check out upcoming events and make sure to go try some local beers at the LIC Flea. Don’t forget to share your findings with us, send us your ideas and feedback as well. Happy Halloween!
