Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District is kicking off its 2nd Annual Sunnyside Restaurant Week on Oct. 20 with a five-day promotion ending on Oct. 24. Enthusiastic foodies from all over the five boroughs are invited to sample international cuisines from some of the best local restaurants in New York City. This year’s Restaurant Week will feature menus from 32 restaurants- double the participation from last year. Foodies and gastronomy fans have a dizzying selection of diverse and delicious cuisines from which to choose. On the menu: Italian, Romanian, Japanese, Paraguayan, Peruvian, Mexican, Irish, Thai, Colombian, Tibetan, Filipino, French, Seasonal American, and more. “We are really looking forward to Sunnyside Restaurant Week this year,” said Rachel Thieme, executive director of Sunnyside Shines. “Last year’s event was a big success for neighborhood restaurants and I am proud that we have doubled the number of participating businesses this year. This event highlights the diverse range of restaurants in Sunnyside, but there’s a huge problem - figuring out how to eat in all these amazing restaurants in just one week!” Each participating restaurant will serve a three-course dinner menu for $25, with many others offering additional lunch specials. Participating restaurants include newcomers to the Sunnyside culinary scene, Tibetan Dumpling Cafe, Blu Orchid, as well as the neighborhood’s two restaurants recognized as Michelin “Bib Gourmands” – Venturo and Salt and Fat. Sunnyside Restaurant Week brings these great dining deals to 32 of Sunnyside’s most exciting restaurants on Queens Boulevard, Greenpoint Avenue, 43rd St. and Skillman Ave including Arriba Arriba, Ariyoshi, Bar 43, Bliss 46 Bistro, Bliss Street Station, Blu Orchid, Bucharest Restaurant, Claret Wine Bar, Copper Kettle, Dog and Duck, Dazies Restaurant, Dee Thai, De Mole, Don Pollo, Foxy’s Diner, I Love Paraguay, Los Pollos, Los Verdes, Mario’s Restaurant, Molly Bloom’s, Murphy’s Lobster Grill, PJ Horgan’s, Quaint, Riko Peruvian Cuisine, Salt & Fat, Sidetracks, Takesushi, Tito Rad’s Grill, Tibetan Dumpling Cafe, Turkish Grill, Venturo, Williamsburger. Sunnyside Restaurant Week also features a partnership with No Longer Empty, the internationally-renowned arts organization that brings contemporary public art exhibitions to vacated storefronts and properties. Site-specific art installations will be installed at five of the participating restaurants, three of which feature the original works of local artists in Sunnyside. The five restaurants with art installations are: Bucharest Restaurant, Los Verdes, PJ Horgan’s, Salt and Fat and Venturo.
