Selections from “Under the Subway Video Art
Night”
On view through Sept. 29
“Under the Subway Video Art Night” founder Antonio
Ortuñ curated this collection of 10 videos from
previous years’ programs since 2011. It began at
the Local Project art space in Long Island City as a
platform for emerging video artists. In its early years,
“Under the Subway Video Art Night” was shown at
an open-air screening under the subway train of the
former 5 Pointz art building. Artists explore creating
virtual or augmented landscapes and themes like
isolation and alienation.

Young Architects Program 2019 “Hórama Rama” by
Pedro & Juana
On view through Sept. 2
Ana Paula Ruiz Galindo and Mecky Reuss of Pedro
& Juana won this year’s Museum of Modern Art
and MoMA PS1’s annual Young Architects Program.
“Hórama Rama” depicts an immersive junglescape
within a 40-foot-high, 90-foot-wide cyclorama, which
provides a 360-degree viewing experience. “Things
are constantly happening in the world and we are
totally interconnected and we wanted to play with that
idea…that’s why we brought the jungle into Queens,”
the artists told MoMA.

“Noguchi: Body-Space Devices”
On view through May 3, 2020
This exhibit features works from The Noguchi
Museum’s collection. The works show the relationship
between the body and objects reflect Isamu
Noguchi’s “lifelong interest of turning sculpture
into civic practice.” Some pieces in the exhibit are
things the body uses, including sets, furniture and
play equipment. Other works in the exhibit “imply a
creator”, like Noguchi’s interlocking sculptures and
biomorphic abstractions.
Hórama Rama by Pedro & Juana, presented as part of the Young Architects Program 2019 at MoMA PS1.
