FROM THE EDITOR
Though this summer is coming to a close
we know there are plenty of ways to soak
up the sun and enjoy the last few weeks of
good weather.
For the August issue, we give you a
guide to the dozens of great restaurants
in Long Island City that not only offer a
great menu but an outdoor patio with great
views. From Casa Henrique, the michelin-award
winning Mexican restaurant to Gaijin,
a Japanese-inspired eatery, there are so
many options for a delicious meal in the
fresh summer air.
History buffs can check out “7 Train:
Minutes to Midtown,” an exhibit that takes
you on a journey through the construction
of the first train line in Queens. The 7 train
forever changed the economic and social
fabric of the borough and we can wit-ness
that today as each stop can provide
passengers with a different cultural and
culinary experience.
We also include updates on the upcoming
Astoria ferry and Citi Bike expansion, which
will provide residents with more transporta-tion
options.
Former Astoria resident Jen Waite wrote
her debut book, a memoir depicting her tu-multuous
relationship with her ex-husband
who cheated on her. Most of the book takes
place in Astoria and we speak to Waite
about her process.
Take a look at the events and arts ex-hibitions
in the neighborhood with our
art calendars and read up on the latest
in real estate! For any story tips, contact
