lic flea MORE Photos by Bradley Hawks FLEA FUN With the summer in full bloom, the LIC Flea & Food and Astoria Flea at Kaufman Astoria Studios have been heating up every weekend and still have more surprises to come. Throughout the past month, the LIC Flea has celebrated Saturdays filled with fun events and visitors of all ages coming from near and far. Various themes at the popular Long Island City market, located at the outdoor lot by the waterfront at the corner of Fifth Street and 46th Avenue, included children-centric weekends, beach time at the flea, Father’s Day and even the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Coming up at the LIC Flea will be the LIC Food Bazaar on July 26, where visitors will be able to taste food and drinks from the best international food vendors in the borough. The following weekend, the market will hold The Great LIC Scavenger Hunt, where visitors will have to prove they have what it takes to win. A beer garden is also expected soon at the market. The LIC Flea & Food is opened every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Right next door in Astoria, the Astoria Flea has also been filled with successful weekends since opening in May at the outdoor backlot of Kaufman Astoria Studios at 36th Street and 35th Avenue. The market, which initially was supposed to run for eight consecutive Sundays in the late spring and early summer, will now keep running until the end of August.
