The Zine Fest is a dynamic reading room popping up at the RESOBOX Gallery and inviting viewers to experience what is currently happening in Japan. Visitors are encouraged to look at every material at their leisure and experience images that many have never before seen outside of Japan. All zines are available for purchase, with average prices between $5 to $20. MoMA PS1 22-25 Jackson Ave. | 718-784-2084 “Björk’s Stonemilker by Andrew Thomas Huang” On view through May 17 As The Museum of Modern Art presents an exhibition on musician Björk, MoMA PS1 presents “Stonemilker” inside the VW Dome. “Stonemilker”,which was directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, explores virtual reality as a platform outside of the norm of a traditional music video. When visitors enter the VW Dome they experience a panoramic view of an Icelandic landscape, surrounded by sounds of waves throughout the dome. There are ten viewing stations with headsets and the virtual reality experience lasts seven minutes. THE SECRET THEATRE 44-02 23rd St. | 718-392-0722 “KATZ’N’DOGZ” Every other Saturday at noon From the writer of Children’s Theatre shows “Pirate Pete’s Parrot” and “Princess Particular” this new musical is loosely based on Shakespeare/West Side Story. The main characters of this show are a female dog named Joolz Muttleycrew and a tomcat named Romeow Katuletz. Tickets are $10 for children, $15 for adults, and $40 for a family 4-pack. (at Vernon Blvd.) | 718-204-7088 “Highlights from the Collection: Iconic Display” Ongoing through Sept. 13 According to a description on the museum’s official website, the installations are ones that have helped shape the critical interpretation and public perception of specific bodies of Noguchi’s work. The selected works include Noguchi’s participation in “Fourteen Americans” at the Museum of Modern Art (1946); his first Japanese exhibition, which took place in a Tokyo department store (1950); an installation by the architect Arata Isozaki for the Seibu Museum of Art (1985); and contemporary attempts, through exhibitions and photographs, to make sense of one of his largest bodies of work – the 26 animated steel editions made for Gemini G.E.L. in the early 1980s. MUSEUM OF THE MOVING IMAGE 35-01 35th Ave. | 718-777-6888 “Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men” Ongoing through June 14 This exhibition, which is on view in the Museum’s third-floor gallery, reveals the creative process behind “Mad Men,” one of television’s most celebrated dramas which began its final season on April 5. “Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men” features large-scale sets including Don Draper’s office and the Draper Kitchen, over 25 iconic costumes, hundreds of props, advertising art, video clips, and personal notes and research material from Matthew Weiner, the show’s creator, writer, and executive producer.
