In Practice: Total Disbelief considers artistic engagements with
dimensions of doubt as they contribute to the formation of
social life. Across media, the works in the exhibition engage
formal tools that uphold belief and produce what we
consider to be true – narrative and cinematic tropes,
photographic technologies, empiricism, and others – and
use them to make any number of other truth claims. A
position of disbelief may see these aesthetic conventions as
valid, but still delimited by external forces, as if they are
suggesting something, but not the right thing, or not saying
all they can or could say.

MoMA PS1 and iconic record shop Other Music present the fourth annual
Come Together: Record Fair and Music Festival, oering a record fair
featuring recent and rare releases, merchandise, and ephemera from more
than 75 record labels and other vendors. Come Together also includes live
performances, lm, workshops, and panels, that celebrate the interactive
ecosystem of both local and international music communities. Reasserting
the central and essential role that these communities play in both the
creation and consumption of new sounds, Come Together recasts the
fading record store experience for the current moment.
Cinema is all about space and time. This is why movies
about outer space — where time does not have the
same meaning as it does here on Earth — make for
particularly cinematic voyages. The development of
special photographic eects have made depictions of
our mysterious galaxy all the more vivid and authentic
as the years have passed, but even the most rudimen-tary
representations of outer space, which have existed
since the form's beginnings, have always inspired awe.
