We only hope that time goes so fast that this cold weather does not last much longer. It is not fun being trapped indoors fighting the frigid temperatures. Our little Maxime is not able to go the park regularly and he is n o t happy about that! He is learning to clean and cook, while playing with all the pots, pans, brooms and mops to keep himself entertained. What I am doing to keep entertained is constantly moisturizing and exfoliating my skin and our clients’ skin. What I tell my clients is to exfoliate, then hydrate. What I suggest is always using a heavier moisturizer to protect skin from the wind. I like shea butter in products because that is a natural ingredient with SUPER moisturizing properties. It leaves the skin soft and gives such a radiant glow. What I have been using is a shea butter and argan oil based cream, and my skin has survived becoming chapped. Some other great ingredients for this type of weather are caviar, hyaluronic acid – to help protect the dehydration level in our skin – silk proteins, and oatmeal for skin sensitivities. So what about an exfoliation that is not going to leave your skin drier than before? Well, always remember that without exfoliation, the products that we use will not get the best results because there is a lot of dry skin that is lying on the surface of our skin. But I can assure you that using one of those over-the-counter facial scrubs is not the best for the skin. They are abrasive and often leave the skin looking red and feeling really dry. That does not mean the skin is cleaner, in fact it is doing more harm than good. You are completely stripping your skin of any hydration. We need all the hydration we can get and keep in this weather. So, what you can look for are products that are enzyme-based for exfoliation. Some great enzymes are pineapple, papaya, and yeast – just to name a few. Stay warm, exfoliate and moisturize! Otherwise, treat yourself to a facial and lie back, and relax while getting pampered with creams and masks to give you your skin back.
