The Dining Diva:
Psari Seafood
Restaurant & Bar
BY HELENE OELERICH
Psari means fish in Greek, so if you love fish,
you must come to Psari! This lovely restaurant
in Astoria is known for its Greek seafood, but it
offers food for carnivores too, including steak,
grilled chicken and lamb chops.
The staff (loved our server, Olga), as well as
the owner, Yanni Vullis, are very warm, friendly
and helpful. There is an outdoor sidewalk
patio and a lovely bar inside (with a Happy
Hour each weekday from 4pm-7pm).
There are many appetizers to choose from,
such as raw oysters, clams, fish fries, and crab
cakes. Entrees include salmon steak, shrimp,
scallops, tilapia and the whole fish of the day,
all of which are served with vegetables, rice
or pasta. Everything is extremely fresh and
enjoyable. We loved the broiled combo of
salmon, flounder, shrimp and scallops, and
the crab legs with baked clams were really
good too!
There are lunch and dinner specials on the
menu every day, and beer, wine and cocktails,
as well as nice desserts, are also offered.
Psari’s hours are Sunday through Thursday,
11am - 12am and Friday and Saturday, 11am -
1am. Lunch is served Monday through Friday
from 11am - 4pm.
Psari is located at 32-10 36th Avenue.
Phone 718-786-6015, and check out
www.psari-restaurant.com to see their full
menus and international wine list before you
go. You will enjoy!!
Lima beans never looked so good!

Below, Le Havre resident Barbara Kossove shares a really special story about a surprise reunion that resulted from the Welcome Wagon section of the Le
Havre Courier and assistance from Le Havre Property Manager Margaret Costello. Thanks, Barbara, for sharing your story, and we hope it inspires other
Le Havre residents to share theirs too! — Editor
WHAT A SMALL WORLD!
BY BARBARA KOSSOVE, BUILDING 1
In a recent issue of the Le Havre Courier, there
was the listing of all of the new shareholders. Lo
and behold, there was the name of a couple we knew
years and years ago. This has to be the same couple,
I thought!
The couple, new shareholders Robert and
AnnMarie, did not live in our building, but Robert’s
parents did (though Robert did live here with his
parents when he came home from the service). They
lived on the floor below us and our children, and they
were Grandma Katie and Grandpa Sammy. Robert’s
younger brother, Jeffrey, was our dog walker and
babysitter for our older son. We were like family.
On many different occasions, we enjoyed the
company of Katie and Sammy’s children, spouses
and grandchildren. When Katie and Sammy moved
to Florida, we were heartbroken but so very happy
for them to start a wonderful new life. The family
hosted a party for them which we were fortunate to
be part of. We lost touch with the rest of the family
but thought of our dear neighbors quite often and the
memories we all shared.
Now here we are, October 2017, and the value of
the Le Havre Courier should have gone up on the
stock market! Fast forward all of these years and two
of the many new shareholders’ names are the same as
the son and daughter-in-law of our former neighbors.
How did I know it could be the same couple?
I DID NOT! When I asked a good neighbor how
I could go about connecting to the couple, she told
me to contact Margaret Costello. I immediately sent
an email to Margaret asking if she could help me in
my search. Immediately after, Margaret emailed me
to say she was sending off an email to the couple in
question.
On Thursday morning, October 12, our home
phone rang; the caller ID gave the name of the caller.
Sure enough, jackpot! It was the right couple. A
wonderful conversation took place which lasted quite
a while, and memories were made.
We look forward to getting together once they have
settled in and we hope to have great times to look
forward to.
Thank you, Le Havre Courier and Margaret!
