Little Dumpling: Shanghai
& Taiwanese Cuisine
BY HELENE OELERICH
This Asian restaurant in Little
Neck has absolutely delicious
food! And as the name suggests,
it is known for its amazing
dumplings!
Little Dumpling offers a variety
of dishes ranging from dim
sum, appetizers, cold dishes and
soups to seafood, meat and vegetables.
Phil loved the chicken
and broccoli and I so enjoyed
the shrimp with lobster sauce
and pork soup dumplings. In
addition to the regular menu,
there is a traditional Chinese
breakfast served on weekends
from 10:30 until 2:30 as well as
a menu of lunch specials.
The restaurant is clean, quiet
and spacious and provides
excellent service. Prices are reasonable,
with no item on the
menu more than $14 (please
note: Little Dumpling accepts
only cash, no credit cards).
Little Dumpling is located
on the south side of Northern
Blvd. at 252-20 Northern Blvd.
(between Little Neck Parkway
and Browvale Lane). There
is metered parking in front of
the restaurant and free parking
in a lot around the corner on
Browvale Lane. (Good news:
another location is opening
in the near future on Horace
Harding Expressway and
Springfield Blvd.!)
Hours are Monday through
Thursday, 11:30am-10:00pm;
Saturday, 10:30am-10:30pm; and
Sunday, 10:30am-10:00pm. Call
718-225-1178 for more information,
or visit their website at
www.littledumplingny.com.
You must try this place! Dig
in, and have another dumpling!
Enjoy!

Split
Friday, September 15
This thriller, directed by M. Night
Shyamalan (“The Sixth Sense”), tells
the story of Kevin Wendell Crumb, a
man with 23 different personalities.
Following a birthday party at a mall,
three girls are kidnapped. Even though
Crumb’s psychiatrist, Dr. Karen Fletcher,
knows about his disorder, she does not
suspect him of the crime. However,
one of Crumb’s personalities has taken
over, and the girls must work out which
of those personalities will help them
escape, and which one(s) will try to stop them. Rated PG-13.
Director: M. Night Shyamalan
Writer: M. Night Shyamalan
Cast: James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson
“A rare, straight-up horror film from Shyamalan, “Split” is a thrilling
reminder of what a technical master he can be. All his virtuoso camerawork
is on display: his lifelong, loving homage to Alfred Hitchcock…
Split” is more lean and taut in its narrative and pace than we’ve seen
from Shyamalan lately. Despite its nearly two-hour running time, it feels
like it’s in constant forward motion, even when it flashes backward to
provide perspective.”

Kong:
Skull Island
Friday, September 29
A diverse team of scientists, soldiers and
adventurers unite to explore a mythical,
uncharted island in the Pacific, as dangerous
as it is beautiful. Cut off from everything they
know, the team ventures into the domain of
the mighty Kong, igniting the ultimate battle
between man and nature. As their mission of
discovery becomes one of survival, they must
fight to escape a primal Eden in which humanity
does not belong. (imdb.com) Rated PG-13
Director: Jordan Vogt-Roberts
Writers: Dan Gilroy; Max Borenstein
Cast: Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson
“Mix King Kong with The Lost World, spike it with a bracing dash of
Apocalypse Now and you’ve got Kong: Skull Island… This highly entertaining
return of one of the cinema’s most enduring giant beasts moves like crazy
— the film feels more like 90 minutes than two hours — and achieves an
ideal balance between wild action, throwaway humor, genre refreshment and,
perhaps most impressively, a nonchalant awareness of its own modest importance
in the bigger scheme of things; unlike most modern franchise blockbusters,
it doesn’t try to pummel you into submission.” –Todd McCarthy, The
