12 L E H A V R E N E W S S E P T E M B E R Bella Notte Evening falls Logan’s hosted its 2nd Annual Festival Italiano Saturday, August 15, adding live entertainment to its Italian Smorgasbord. More than 100 residents and friends—nearly twice as many as the inaugural Festival last summer—gathered on an evening that could best be described as “Bellissima!” Popular local entertainer Sal Manzo, who often sings at The Blvd Restaurant in Whitestone, provided the entertainment, crooning a selection of standards by such legendary performers as Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Dean Martin to warm up the crowd. As the night progressed, Manzo’s repertoire expanded, showing off the performer’s talents and versatility as he deftly handled everything from pop to disco, even rap! Manzo, whose made a career of singing since he was a teenager credits his success to a combination of hard work and “always putting the people first. When it comes from the heart, the talent comes through,” he says. Logan’s served a buffet of nearly a dozen full chaffing dishes filled with homemade Italian cuisine. Everything from traditional favorites, such as chicken parmigiana and eggplant rollatini to inventive twists on old favorites, like chicken tortellini with clam sauce, was served poolside, while people enjoyed their favorite tipple—BYOB—chatted and danced the night away!
