Fireworks flew over Fort Totten on June 27, and
Le Havre residents were able to enjoy an early
Independence Day celebration at Pool 2. This year
was another record-breaking fireworks event as 275
shareholders and their guests got in on the fun. And
it’s no wonder: Le Havre happens to have a fantastic
birds-eye view of the Fort’s annual fireworks, which
were sponsored by the Bayside Historical Society
and presented by the king of all fireworks, Grucci.
The fun kicked off at 6pm with music from DJ
Mario, and the Clubhouse café, Buona Fortuna, was
open for anyone who wanted to enjoy some antipasti,
pizza, or pasta. The weather was a tad hazy, but the
fireworks shone through when they kicked off at
about 9:15.
The Clubhouse’s Assistant Manager, Natalie
Vattuone, oversaw the event with the help of supervisor
Nick Santo. “Natalie did a terrific job,” Nick said,
“and everyone had a great time.”
It was an especially great time for one of Le
Havre’s shareholders, Lisa Spielman. For the first
time, the party included a 50/50 raffle, and Lisa was
the winner. On top of that, it was her birthday. She
was very excited. “I’ve never won anything in my
life!” she exclaimed. It’s a safe bet that Lisa will be a
regular at future Le Havre parties!
So for anyone who missed this year’s bash, remember:
