Happily Ever After
at Le Havre!
It was a first for Le Havre on Saturday, May 19,
when Fern Glassman and Gerry Kuster took the
plunge. No, not a plunge in the pool—they got married
at Le Havre!
Fern’s been a resident of Le Havre for 24 years,
and there really wasn’t any other place that she or
Gerry wanted to be when they tied the knot. “Le
Havre is where we had our first dance as a couple,”
Fern explained. That first dance was three years ago
at one of Le Havre’s July 4th fireworks parties (and
obviously, sparks flew!).
Gerry was quick to note that the wedding date also
happened to be the wedding date of Prince Harry and
Meghan Markle. “I want everyone to know that we
set the date first,” Gerry said with a smile. “But,” he
added, “they stole our weather.”
The deck at Pool #2 was the setting, and yes, the
day started out pretty rainy. What had been expected
to be a nice sunny day wound up requiring tents to
be put up and decorated with just a few hours to
spare before the couple’s 135 guests arrived for the
ceremony.
The guests included Fern’s two brothers, her
90-year young Mom, and Gerry’s family, who all
came in from Virginia. “And my daughter, Olivia,
officiated,” Gerry added. “That was really special.”
Fern and Gerry gave a special shout-out to Luigi
Forte, owner of Buona Forchetta, and his staff. “They
worked on setting up the tents to look like a beautiful
wedding venue,” Fern said. “Luigi took care of every
little detail to perfection, and the food was fabulous.”
They also gave big praise to Le Havre Management
and its Maintenance staff for all their assistance
throughout the planning and coordination of the big
event.
“With the help and support of so many people, our
wedding was wonderful even though the weather
conditions weren’t,” Fern said. She added, “Being
the first wedding at Le Havre was such an honor. We
couldn’t have been happier anyplace else.”
