“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”
is a darkly comic drama from Academy Award
nominee Martin McDonagh (‘In Bruges’). After
months have passed without a culprit in her
daughter’s murder case, Mildred Hayes (Frances
McDormand) makes a bold move, painting three
signs leading into her town with a controversial
message directed at William Willoughby (Woody
Harrelson), the town’s revered chief of police.
When his second-in-command Officer Dixon
(Sam Rockwell), an immature mother’s boy with
a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle
between Mildred and Ebbing’s law enforcement
is only exacerbated. -- Fox Searchlight Pictures
“Anger is an energy in Martin McDonagh’s
brilliant ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing,
Missouri,’ one of the best films of the year….No
one does angry better than Frances McDormand,
who does her best film work here since ‘Fargo’…
her character is so completely, fully realized in
ways that other actresses couldn’t have come anywhere
close to capturing. It’s stunning to watch.”

I, Tonya
Friday, March 23, 3pm 7pm
Golden Globe
winner (Allison
Janney, Best
Supporting
Actress); nominated
for three
Academy Awards,
including Margot
Robbie for Best
Actress. Rated R
Director: Craig
Gillespie
Writer: Steven
Rogers
Cast: Margot
Robbie, Sebastian
Stan, Allison Janney
Despite ultimately garnering some success in
figure skating as a national U.S. champion, a
world championship medalist, an Olympian, and
being the first American woman to complete
a Triple Axel in competition, Tonya Harding
(Margot Robbie) is arguably best known for her
association to “the incident”: the leg bashing
on January 6, 1994 of her competitor, Nancy
Kerrigan. “I, Tonya” tells the story from the
beginning of her figure skating life at age four to
the aftermath of the incident. Besides Tonya herself,
key people in her life give their perspectives,
including her waitress mother Lavona Golden
(Allison Janney), who was abusive toward her
physically and emotionally, and Jeff Gillooly
(Sebastian Stan), her first husband. – imdb.com
“‘I, Tonya’ is a raunchy, demented, dark-comic
dazzler, snappily directed by Craig Gillespie
(‘Lars and the Real Girl’) from an anything-goes
script by Steven Rogers, gives Margot Robbie her
best performance yet…she turns the disgraced
Olympian into a force of nature – and someone
much more complex than a tabloid caricature.”
-- Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
