Woman critically
injured after
nasty fall during
failed Chinatown
robbery

Police are looking for the violent crook
who knocked a mother and her son
down a fl ight of stairs during a robbery
attempt gone bad at a Chinatown
subway station on July 17.
The fall left the 58-year-old mother critically
injured with an apparent brain injury,
published reports indicated.
Law enforcement sources said the
incident happened at about 9:40 a.m. on
July 17, as the 58-year-old woman and her
22-year-old son were walking up a stairwell
at the Canal Street station, near the N line.
That’s where, police reported, the crook
confronted them and attempted to yank a
backpack away from the 22-year-old son —
but that caused the son to lose his balance
on the stairwell.
Published reports indicated that the son
reached for his mother in an attempt to
prevent the fall, but that sent both of them
tumbling down the stairwell. The robber,

Attacker sought for Midtown stabbing

The assailant who stabbed
a 29-year-old man at his
parked vehicle in Murray
Hill earlier this month remains at
large, police reported.
The NYPD released on Saturday
an image of the attacker behind the
July 4 assault, which occurred at
4 a.m. in front of 3 East 36th St.
Law enforcement sources said
the suspect and the victim had
been engaged in a previous dispute
for reasons that remain under
investigation.
According to police, the words
turned physical when the suspect
attacked the victim as he returned
to his vehicle, plunging a knife
twice into the victim’s torso.

station to parts unknown, police reported.
Offi cers from the 5th Precinct and
NYPD Transit District 2 responded to the
incident. EMS rushed the mother to a local
hospital, where she’s listed in critical condition.
Her son was not injured in the attack.
On Saturday night, the NYPD released
video footage of the suspect walking
through a turnstile gate. He’s shown in the
video wearing a white bandana around his
neck, an olive green t-shirt and black pants
with white stripes down the sides.

Robbers with machete and
gun attack security guard

Four individuals
who menaced a
security guard with
a machete and gun, then
attacked and robbed him
outside the Chinese Mission
in Midtown earlier
this month remain at large,
police reported.
Law enforcement
sources said the incident
happened at about 3:40
a.m. on the morning of July
14 in front of the Chinese
Mission at 350 East 35th
St.
According to police, the
security guard approached
the four individuals after
spotting them tampering
with a vehicle parked at
the location. In response,
cops said, the foursome
displayed a fi rearm and
machete, then went on the
attack.
Authorities said the
perpetrator fl ed the scene on foot
and was last seen heading southbound
on 5th Avenue.
Police said the victim went by
private means to Staten Island
University Hospital North for
treatment; he was listed in stable
condition. The incident was reported
to the Midtown South
Precinct.
Cops described the attacker as
a man with a dark complexion
believed to be between 25 and 30
years of age, standing 6 feet tall
and weighing about 180 pounds.
He was last seen wearing a white tshirt,
white jeans and white shoes.

suspects punched the

head, then removed his
property and hopped into
a red 2013 Toyota RAV4
parked at the location.
They then sped away inside
the SUV, which ultimately
headed into the Queens
Midtown Tunnel and was
last tracked heading for the
RFK Bridge.
Offi cers from the 17th
Precinct responded to the
incident. Police said the
security guard refused

medical attention at the

On July 20, the NYPD
released video footage of
the four crooks taken on
the morning of the robbery
near the crime scene. The
RAV4 in which they fl ed
had the New York state
license plate HVX3865.

Speeding driver dies
after fl ipping car on
Harlem River Drive

A speeding driver died
and his passenger was
injured after he fl ipped
his car on the Harlem River
Drive early Monday morning,
July 19.
New Jersey resident Joseph
Edlawn, 34, was driving at a
high speed heading north at
around 1:40 a.m. when he tried
to exit at East 125th Street, according
to police reports.
As he drove down the exit
ramp, he hit the curb causing
the car to fl ip over several
times into the northbound
Second Avenue ramp and
coming to a rest on its roof on
the northbound Harlem River
Drive.
Edlawn wasn’t wearing his
seatbelt, so he was ejected
through the moon roof during
car rolling over, according
to the authorities.Paramedics
rushed to the scene and
brought Edlawn to NYC Health
+ Hospitals/Harlem where he
was pronounced dead.
His 28-year-old female passenger
had her seatbelt on and
only had minor injuries, but
paramedics also brought her
to the uptown public hospital.
