Still Getting Your Bearings With The Upcoming City Elections?
These Workshops Are Here To Help
This year’s municipal elections bring with them a major sea change.
Not only are we electing a new mayor, but we’ll also be electing a new
comptroller, five borough presidents, a new Manhattan District
Attorney, and nearly two-thirds of the city council, to name a few. The
pool of candidates is vast and diverse, and to make things even more
complicated, we have a new ranked-choice voting system, too.
That’s a lot to navigate — but if you’re struggling to figure out this
year’s ballot, we’re here to help. The Alliance for Downtown New York
and LMHQ have teamed up with the League of Women Voters and the
Downtown-Lower Manhattan Association to launch a series of free
virtual workshops focused on the municipal elections. First up, on
April 14, we’re hosting “Know Before You Vote: Who Does What,” an
overview of the roles and responsibilities of NYC’s elected officials.
The presentation will provide all of the information you need to
understand their job functions and how elected leaders can guide us
out of the Covid-19 crisis and help New York to rebuild and
 reimagine itself.
And on May 12, we’ll be hosting “Know Before You Vote: Ranked-Choice Voting,” which will provide an overview of the new ballot
voting system. Both workshops will have you ready to make your selections like a pundit. Register at LMHQ.nyc, and mark your
calendars for New York City’s primary on June 22.
