Halloween 2020:
It was a Mask-erade
Parade!
It was definitely an unusual Halloween this year, and not just because we couldn’t do our
usual Halloween Party, which was disappointing to say the least. It so happened that there
was a Blue Moon this Halloween, which is extremely rare. (A Blue Moon is when there are
two full moons in a calendar month, and a Blue Moon on Halloween occurs only once every
19 years or so.)
It also happened that Halloween fell on a Saturday, which made it really convenient to hold
a Halloween Parade. Kids of all ages met at the pool gate promptly at 3:00 on Saturday, October
31, to show off their costumes (and pick up lots of candy along the way). We had Counts,
Princesses, Superheroes, Trolls, Zombies, Wizards, Skeletons, Senators and the Grim Reaper
and a Good Witch (aka Barbara Lowy), who led the parade. The Halloween Parade was led by
a musical “float” and the good witch.
Thanks go to CeCe Schob and Jean Curnyn for their help setting up and to Deborah Berg
who manned the treat table. A shout out to all the residents who gave candy to the concierges–
it was distributed along the parade route by residents who came to watch.
