PHOTO OF THE MONTH
BY JILL DAVIS
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!
This month for the first time, we have a single
contributor, and so Marsha Gellert wins
all the accolades by default. Thanks for your
pictures, Marsha! It is noteworthy that she
has submitted quite a nice variety of photos
spanning different aspects of the property,
not to mention a final look this year (we
hope) of those infernal geese!
I am also hoping that we get to see some
fall colors before the leaves just drop off (I
can dream, can’t I?) and that folks will be inspired
to take some seasonal pictures around
the grounds. Come on, I know you can do it!
A reminder about the contest rules:
The photographer must be a resident of
Cryder Point, and all photos must of the
property or of a view from the property. They
also must be current, that is, taken no more
than a couple of months before you submit
them.
Any description of where you were on the
property, the day of week or time of day…
any details that you can provide which
bring your neighbors into the moment of the
photo…are eagerly welcomed.
Submit your pictures to jdavis@qns.com
and yours might be selected to be featured in
the paper. Please be sure to put “Cryder Point
Photo” in the subject line of your email and
include the full name of the photographer
and an approximate date of the picture.
In time for Veteran’s Day, our flag takes center stage. All quiet on the western pool front!
These geese have an agenda, I’m sure of it. A late October sunrise says, “Good morning!”

The Dining Diva:
Taverna Kyclades
BY HELENE OELERICH
People in Bayside are thrilled that Taverna Kyclades, which
has locations in Astoria and the East Village, has come to Bell
Blvd. This very highly rated Greek restaurant is known for its
excellent seafood as well as chicken, lamb and steak.
Fresh fish and traditional Greek dishes are prepared the old
fashioned way and may transport you to the Greek Islands that
are its namesake. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful,
and the restaurant is clean and lovely.
Appetizers include octopus, calamari, clams, mussels and
crab cakes. Main dishes include “From the Land” and “From
the Sea” specialties. The very fresh seafood menu includes
Branzino, dorata, snapper, sea bass, prawns, salmon, swordfish,
shrimp, scallops (one of many favorites), seafood pasta
and the “Kyclades special,” which is a platter of stuffed clams,
stuffed shrimp, lobster tail, filet of sole and scallops served for
two. YUMMMM!
All entrees are served with rice, beets, lemon or fried potatoes
or Swiss chard. The menu includes salads, appetizers and
vegetables. You can choose fried or grilled meats and there are
several specials on the menu each day.
Taverna Kyclades is located at 39-28 Bell Blvd. Regular dining
hours are Monday through Friday, 12 noon -11 PM; Saturdays,
12 noon-11:30 PM; and Sundays, 12 Noon to 10:30 PM.
Lunch specials are available Monday - Saturday 12:00 Noon
to 4:00 PM. They do not accept reservations, but there is valet
parking and free dessert! Call 718-631-2000 or visit tavernakyclades.
