OCTOBER 16
BY JILL DAVIS OOuutt About
&Do you like your boss? (You can be honest, I won’t tell anyone, I promise.) If you
happen to be one of the fortunate few who actually likes their boss, remember him or
her on Boss’s Day, Tuesday, October 16. It’s a bona fi de day of acknowledgment. Ms.
Patricia Bays Haroski, an employee at State Farm Insurance, registered this day with
the U.S. Chamber of Commerce back in 1958. She chose October 16 because it was her
father’s birthday…and her father also happened to be her supervisor. Talk about kissing
up to the boss!
Halloween is on a Wednesday this year and there are lots of things going on in the
area the following weekend which will get kids of all ages into the Halloween mood.
Here’s what’s coming up over the next few weeks:

cause. Maestro Louis Panacciulli leads Th e Nassau
Pops Symphony Orchestra for the 14th Annual

sound like a snooze-fest, not to worry. Th e concert will feature Let’s Hang On, hailed
as America’s top Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons tribute group. You’ll be a big man in
town if you get tickets ($38, $48 and $58).

Whoopi’s back on stage! She’s been so busy hosting a talk

comedienne she is. In fact, Whoopi’s a member of the elite
EGOT club (a winner of an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and
a Tony--extremely rare!). Th is looks like a pretty limited tour,
and this is Whoopi’s only Long Island appearance this year, so don’t ghost her now.
