4 C R Y D E R P O I N T SEPTEMBER Message from the Board President Slow and steady wins the race, as they say. The concrete pour along the promenade is done, benches have been ordered and the landscaper has been on the property several times to discuss plantings. Please note that we’re going to start slowly with the plantings in the area—basically seeding a n d some small evergreens, filling in with seasonal plants and fl owers. We’re being sensitive not only to immediate costs, but also looking ahead to next spring when we’re able to see how things are growing and what will look best in the space. The gardener also made us an offer we couldn’t refuse, which is to replace the barberry plants along the front of the buildings on Powells Cove Blvd. with hollies. If you’ve noticed the small stretch of holly that’s in front of the 2 1 Building you can see how pretty it is and how well it ties in with the other greenery on the property. Barberries are a challenge to maintain, and diffi cult, if not impossible, to purchase these days. We had planned to do this replacement at a later time, but the gardener got a tremendous deal on the plants--the cost is less than half of previous estimates that we have received--so this change will be happening shortly. I know you’re wondering about the parking lot…cars will begin to be relocated back to their original locations this month. Once the lot is totally empty, demo and new seeding will be done. Look inside for a recap of Senator Avella’s Waldbaum’s rally that was held last month. It goes into a little bit more depth than what you might have read so far and provides important contact information to make your opinion known to the owners of the property. This is an important issue that affects all of us, and everyone’s support is important! Till next time.
