COVID VACCINE UPDATE
According to nyc.gov, at press time, 68% of
adults in NYC have been partially vaccinated
with 60% of adults having completed all vaccines.
Queens is faring better, with 68% of
adults partially vaccinated and 74% fully
vaccinated. Notably, in our own area, 78%
of Whitestone residents are partially vaccinated
and 74% have been fully vaccinated.
This is good news, especially in light of the
Delta variant, which the CDC has labeled a
“variant of concern” and is spreading rapidly in
pockets of the population where the vaccine rate
is considerably lower than in New York and other
states. Experts are confident that the vaccines are very effective
against the Delta variant and stress the importance
of getting vaccinated to protect against infection.
On July 2, Mayor de Blasio reported that although the city
is monitoring data on the variant closely, he is confident
the vaccines will keep New Yorkers safe. “Overwhelmingly
the vaccine works against the Delta variant,” added Mitchell
Katz, head of the city’s public hospital system. “People can
keep their masks off if they have been fully vaccinated, and
I have confidence that that will keep them protected.”
De Blasio noted, “We will make adjustments when we
see real consistent evidence, but so far the data is telling us
in fact, things keep moving in the right direction,” he said.
Visit cdc.org or nyc.gov for more information.
As of now, masks are optional for Cryder Point residents
but remain mandatory in common indoor spaces for visitors
and staff.
CORRECTION: 2021 ANNUAL
SHAREHOLDERS’ MEETING
The date of the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting was incorrectly
printed in last month’s paper. The correct date is
Thursday, August 19. Apologies for any confusion.
As announced, the meeting will be held in the 01/21
Courtyard. Please note we will be starting the meeting at
6:00 pm to take advantage of as much daylight as possible.
The rain date is scheduled for Monday, August 23.
The meeting package will be distributed to shareholders
on or about July 31, which will contain applicants’ resumes
and proxy forms. The 2020 Financials are
available at your concierge’s desk, so pick up
yours if you haven’t already done so.
CO-OP LEASE EXTENSION
APPROVED
I am pleased to announce that the required
threshold to extend our lease from
2051 until 2101 has been reached. As previously
explained, the co-op needed a minimum
of 75% of shares voted in favor of the
lease extension to take effect. As of June 9, a
total of 75.6% of shares were voted in favor. This
extension will help expedite financing for both new and
existing shareholders, and the Board thanks all shareholders
who took the time to submit their ballots.
Please note that the new date will be reflected in documentation
going forward. Current shareholders do not
need to have their existing Proprietary Lease updated or
replaced.
